The Procopio Companies announced a major construction milestone for The Beck, a 290-unit, mixed-use project under construction on the banks of the Merrimack River in Bradford and opposite the MBTA commuter rail station.

The five-story, transit-oriented development at 19 Railroad Ave. is now weather tight and work is proceeding with interior fit-out and façade finalization.

The weather-tight status comes as other substantial development milestones take place, company officials said, including the start of construction on the new 1.4-acre public waterfront park, to be named First Nations Park, and the implementation of roadway improvements as a part of a $1.95 million MassWorks grant.

“This milestone moves us one step closer to delivering much-needed housing to the Greater Boston market,” said David Roache, vice president of development at Procopio. “As one of the largest multifamily developments under construction in Massachusetts, situated in a prime location next to an MBTA commuter rail station, The Beck will deliver on the housing production priorities outlined by Governor Healey’s administration.”

The Beck will include 6,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space in addition to the development’s 290 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Located with sweeping views of the Merrimack River, amenities will include a fitness center, sports lounge, and outdoor space with a resort-style pool, fire pit, patio, and cookout area. The building will also feature bike storage, as the donated public park will lead to a riverfront multiuse path along the rear of the site.

The park includes a playground, splashpad, dog park, and green space. With the implementation of the Elm Street improvements, bicyclists will have new accommodations including bike lanes on Laurel Avenue and Elm Street that will lead to commuter routes and the riverfront Fiorentini Rail Trail. The building is just across the river from downtown Haverhill, convenient to all the city has to offer.

The development was designed by architecture firm CUBE3, with Bohler as engineer and Dellbrook — JKS of Quincy as the general contractor. The Beck is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2025. For more information on this project, visit procopiocompanies.com/portfolio/the-beck.
