Last December, a thief piggybacked behind a resident into an East Boston residential building. He grabbed multiple packages and even opened one as he stood in the foyer. Inside, he found a brand new sweater, which he proceeded to put on and walk out, all while several residents walked by on their way to the elevator and stairwell. While the entire caper was caught on the building’s security cameras, it proved to be too little too late. This story is all too common for Boston-area buildings, who struggle to control the never-ending deliveries of padded envelopes and boxes.
